Seamax was founded in 2012 by former GE Capital executives who ran GE's shipping and transportation business. The company was established to make investments in the transportation sector. Our capabilities include fund origination and management in maritime and broader transportation-related assets.
Seamax currently manages the MC-Seamax Shipping Opportunities Fund LP, a closed-end private equity investment fund focused on containerships. The Fund closed in April 2015 and has deployed over $650 million. Seamax operates a fleet of 12 modern, post-Panamax containerships totaling over 96,000 TEU of container capacity. The fleet is deployed in major trade lanes and provides the world’s top shipping lines with over 1.2 million deadweight tonnage in carrying capacity.
